The roots of Terraerden reach back to 1985, when the founder of the company took an interest in the benefits of plant growing and growing media. Soon peat and the production of peat substrates became not only a business, but also a lifelong passion. From the very beginning, a fundamental decision was made – to produce only the highest quality substrates, to make no compromises in this area. Even in times of global recessions, when the purchasing power of customers decreased and the need to limit expenses arose, we stayed true to our founding principle and commitment to provide only the highest quality growing media. This strategy paid off – the business flourished, and the circle of satisfied and loyal clients worldwide grew.
This business philosophy did not change after establishing “Compaqpeat SIA“ – maintaining the highest quality in every step of production and in every component of our substrates. The commitment to produce only the top-quality products is also reflected in the company's logo – the stylized letter Q stands for Quality. This has borne fruit and in more than 20 years of the company's existence, we have become one of the leading producers of high-quality substrates in commercial horticulture, our products are exported to more than 70 countries worldwide.
Over the decades, one important thing has not changed – we remain a company where a strong team spirit and shared values prevail. Passion for what we do, dedication to our products, respect for employees and clients, responsible production, care for the environment, and a commitment to sustainable business practices continue to be our most important principles.
Encouraged by the success and recognition among professional growers, we have decided to enter the hobby sector and provide the experience of professional growers for your home garden. We meticulously selected recipes of substrates, and in 2018 the Terraerden brand was born. Special attention to product quality, encoded in our DNA, remained when producing Terraerden substrates aimed at hobby gardeners. These substrates essentially consist of the same materials and components as our products intended for professional growers.
Since 2025, Compaqpeat and Terraerden have been part of the Pindstrup Group – one of the world’s leading producers of growing media for professional horticulture. This partnership between two family-owned companies that share common values, long-term commitment, and a focus on producing the highest quality substrates further strengthens our foundation and brings new opportunities for innovation, knowledge exchange, and long-term sustainability.
